2010年の来日公演で日本のファンの前についにその姿を現したオーストラリアのドゥームカルトMournful Congregationの2年ぶりとなる新作アルバム。それまでの漆黒から一転した白ベースのブックレットが象徴する様に、前作「The June Frost」では、その音楽性をより深化させた作風で我々を唸らせてくれました。今作、「The Book Of Kings」では再びダークなカラー基調へと回帰。彼らとしては標準的な20分弱の曲2曲、アコースティック主体の曲1曲、そして最後に30分に及ぶ大作という、前々作「The Monad of Creation」を彷彿とさせるアルバム構成。細部まで練り込まれた、複雑に絡み合うメロディーライン。荘厳さと物悲しさの入り交じるドラマティックな曲展開。彼らのこれまでの持ち味はそのままに、さらに磨きをかけた王者の風格さへ漂う究極破滅音絵巻！
